I’m Roxy. I’m an avid doodler in love with cartoons, manga, zines, and huipil floral patterns. I’m a chubby girl from West LA. I create zines, ink drawings, watercolor paintings, and badass graphic designs geared toward fashion fanatics. My love of drawing began around 8 years old. I spent a lot of my free time watching cartoons. They were my refuge from growing up in Santa Monica, CA. In a town full of white hippies, with some ethnic diversity, in the 90s, intersectionality wasn’t a thing. As a result, I had a hard time claiming my Latina identity while also embracing my “nerdy” interests. Animation encouraged me to explore the diversity in my own life, the countless communities in my backyard of Los Angeles. Currently, my art is shifting towards the exploration of what encompasses my identity. To explore my family history, latinx history, fat positivity and being an ally.
