Batalá Los Angeles is an international samba reggae performance group, founded in 2013 by its musical director, Mario Pallais. Since its inception, the community based Afro-Brazilian percussion ensemble has showcased their energetic brand of music & dance from Santa Barbara to Arizona, with frequent appearances in San Diego and throughout the Los Angeles area. Highlights include performances for the City of Los Angeles Sister Cities event, Brazilian Day San Diego, Club Nokia, grand opening of The Village at Westfield Topanga, Lanzate TV, Abbot Kinney Festival, LA Galaxy, Special Olympics World Summer Games, and the Hollywood Carnival parading down Hollywood Blvd. Batalá Los Angeles is open for anyone to join regardless of musical or performance experience and welcomes all genders, races, religions and sexual orientations.
